| Yesterday was the first time that I rode in Roswell. Aside from all the traffic going into Roswell, I had a wonderful time riding with James. We planned on doing a 2 hour ride for 40 minutes, which stretched out to 51.7 miles for 3 hours, 2 minutes and 17 seconds.
Talk about wrong gearing, I rode the Giant with a standard double and 11x25 cassette. James showed me his starting route from his house up this 1/4 mile climb that was pretty dang tough, but I was not going to let it conquer me. We rode through Riverside then followed the Bike Roswell route which was well-marked with "BR" in white spray point on the roads. I am looking forward to much more future rides in Roswell at least once a month.
As for today, I wanted to focus on more hill intervals so I decided to ride the hidden gem that is very close to my house. I rode for 30 minutes as a warmup then went to hit my intervals on Tuggle Road. I will admit that it was tough doing Tuggle Road for an hour, but it was a great challenge. Nothing like a hill that saps all the speed out of you, I kid you now. The last 50 meters was 5.4 mph, which was grueling! My legs are like jello right now. I am glad to be able to relax right now.
Here's a elevation view of my interval route.

 | Last week I did my last two full days of commuting by bike to work on
Monday and Tuesday. When I got home on Tuesday night, my
throat was bothering me and I had chills, so I knew I was doom with a
cold. I had to stay off the bike and not exercise from
Wednesday until Sunday, which allowed me ample time to recover my cold
got worst.
So the beginning of this week, I dragged my butt downstairs to train
indoors on my trainer. I was determined to ride 45 minutes at
an easy pace to get acclimated to being back on my indoor
trainer. It was quite a workout as I sweated away as it
dripped onto the rubber mat below. I am now on my 4th day of
training indoors and I am enjoying the time as it is well spent as I
can focus on working out, instead of staying warm. From
riding indoors, I have been able to actually lose 3 lbs, which
indicates that my body is burning fat
effectively.
On a different note, I have been
reading the Georgia Cross forum (http://www.georgia-cross.com) that I
am getting the bug to race cyclocross. So I'll be shaking the
dust off my trusty cyclocross bike on Saturday to race at the Georgia
International Horse Park in Conyers, Ga. I raced cyclocross 2
years ago and my first race was at this same venue, so I am looking
forward to it! If I race well, I'll probably race every Sunday from here on out until the cyclocross season ends on 12/7/2008!
